Choosing the right photographer for your newborn session is not an easy decision.
I am always happy to answer any questions you have. Here are the most common questions I get asked, I hope you find them helpful!
When should I book my photographer?
It's best to book your newborn photographer at the beginning of your second trimester. This allows time for you to find the photographer you love and to get your baby's due date on their calendar.
How far will you travel for sessions?
I am located in Great Falls, VA, but I travel within a 30-mile radius of DC for in-home sessions. I also have a studio available in Leesburg, VA.
Where will my session take place?
My newborn sessions take place either in-home or in studio. We will work together to decide which is a better fit for you.
How old should my baby be for their newborn lifestyle session?
The sweet spot for newborn sessions is 8-14 days old. However, there is no bad time to capture memories with your new baby! If you missed the newborn window think about booking a milestone session!
When are the sessions offered?
Newborn sessions are typically scheduled between 10am-2pm, I shoot with natural light, so I use the light to determine the best 2-hour window in that timeframe.
Will my partner and/or other children be included in the shoot?
Absolutely! A main focus of my newborn photography is capturing your whole family making beautiful memories with your new baby - this can even include well-behaved pets!
How long will the session take?
My newborn sessions usually take around 2 hours. New babies can be unpredictable and I never want to rush a session, I am very flexible and will move at your baby's pace!
WILL MY SESSION BE RESCHEDULED DUE TO BAD WEATHER?
I rarely reschedule sessions, however, since I shoot with natural light, if it is going to be a very dark, stormy day, we will reschedule for the next closest day that works for both of us.
DO YOU PROVIDE PROPS AND BLANKETS?
I have everything we will need for baby during the session. My photography style is very neutral and baby focused. I bring a selection of swaddles, knit blankets and white onesies.
What should I wear?
I have a client closet full of beautiful dress options for moms and moms-to-be. I will pull options for you and we will discuss which you like best on our virtual planning call.
Is your client closet size inclusive
Yes! My client closet has a variety of sizes and styles designed to fit all body types. If I do not have a dress in your size or that you feel beautiful in we will work together to find something. I will purchase the dress for you to wear and then it will be added to my client closet.
will you help me dress the rest of my family?
Of course! This is a big part of our virtual planning call. I will give you guidance and options for your husband/partner and any other children participating in the session. I also have a children's closet that has options for children ages 3 and under.
Is hair & makeup included with my session?
Yes! Hair and Makeup is included with the Creative Fee due a booking. I take care of booking one of my trusted artists who will come to your home to get you ready prior to your session. I want this to be a fun and relaxing experience for you. My artists will make you feel pampered and gorgeous which will help you feel confident in front of the camera!
HOW WILL my PHOTOS BE DELIVERED?
We will meet again virtually about 2 weeks after your session for your Gallery Reveal Ordering Appointment. At that time I will show you your final gallery and you will purchase your digital gallery. I will also help you decide how you want to enjoy your photos in a tangible way!
what print products do you offer?
I work with premium printers to offer you heirloom albums, matted albums, custom wall art and birth announcements. I have curated my product offerings to meet your needs, while not overwhelming you with options.
Why should I print my photos through you?
Many reasons... I offer high quality products through professional print labs that you do not have access to as a consumer. I also have design expertise to make your vision come to life. And finally, if you don't print your photos with me, life happens and the photos you meant to print or the album you meant to design never gets made. Allow me to take if off your plate and get it done for you!
