The first few weeks of a baby’s life are filled with wonder, tenderness, and sweet family moments. As a DC newborn photographer, I recently had the privilege of capturing this magical time in a stunning new build. This adorable family recently relocated from California to be closer to family and moved into their dream home! It’s pristine white walls and large windows allowed natural light to flood the interior which provided the perfect backdrop for a newborn session.
Baby Dean, the heart and soul of our newborn session was a sleepy dream throughout. Wrapped in a white swaddle, he snoozed while being passed between Mom, Dad and the sweetest big brother, Liam.
One of the highlights of photographing in this modern farmhouse was the abundance of natural light. Despite it being a cloudy day, the large windows allowed lots of light to filter in, casting a warm and ethereal glow upon baby Dean. We took advantage of this soft, diffused light to create a series of breathtaking images that highlighted his delicate features and the genuine love shared by his parents and big brother.
Throughout the session, we focused on capturing those tender, intimate moments that define the early days. Dean’s parents held him close, exchanged loving glances, and shared whispers of affection. His big brother brought an excited energy to the session and was handing out snuggles and kisses for everyone!
My favorite part of the session was photographing the family playing and enjoying each other in their gorgeous kitchen. We invited Liam to splash around with his feet in the sink and chase Dad around the kitchen island. Capturing families having fun together in the comfort of their home warms my heart! I know they will treasure these photos always. And 10, 15 or even 20 years from now when their boys are grown, these photos will be there to remind them of the pure joy and innocence that embodied their home during these early days as a family of four! As a photographer, it’s moments like these that remind me of the incredible privilege of documenting the most precious moments in life.
