Read First Hand about a Clientβs Experience
I met Lindsey and her family at Jones Point Park in Alexandria one spring afternoon to capture her sonβs One Year Milestone Session! She was sweet enough to review her experience here on the blog so potential clients would have a taste of what it is like to work with me!
Thank you, Lindsey!
The Reservation and Planning Process
I had the pleasure of having Laura photograph my babyβs one year milestone session. Once I reserved our session, she was prompt with getting the digital paperwork over to me and securing a date for the session. Her online portfolio helped me determine the style of pictures I was looking to have done and plan for additional sessions in the future!
Prior to our session date, I had a virtual planning call with Laura where we talked through my goals and dreams for the session and discussed wardrobe. She helped me pick the best outfits for my family. She also gave me brand recommendations for dresses and baby clothes that would be most flattering in pictures. Her knowledge of the styling βrulesβ of using solids and prints together was really beneficial when it came to me purchasing outfits for our photoshoot. Laura also has a client closet with wardrobe options for moms and babies that you can borrow for your session. She will also provide you with her preferred list of hair and makeup artists, so you donβt have to stress about getting ready for your session! Iβll definitely be using the wardrobe and styling services when I book my next session with Laura! She thinks of everything and after our call I felt even more excited and prepared for our session!

The Session Experience
Mother Nature was not on our side on the day of our photoshoot. Laura was playing weatherwoman by keeping me updated on the forecast a week in advance. The weather was projected to be clear in the afternoon, but the rain snuck its way in anyway. Laura came prepared with umbrellas and had a back-up plan: to take shelter under the covered section of the lighthouse that overlooked the water.Β Laura was clearly experienced with shooting in the rain, because she informed us that even though we were covered, the rain would show up in the background of the pictures and take away from the people in the photos. We decided to wait out the rain in hopes it would be a quick shower. Luckily, the rain passed within about ten minutes and we were able to continue with our session.Β
When it came time for Lukeβs close-ups, our little one was quite fixated on what mama and daddy were doing instead of looking at the camera. I was thoroughly impressed by Lauraβs βhide and seek from the babyβ technique that allowed her to capture Lukeβs attention. Essentially, my husband and I βhidβ behind the lighthouse so that Luke would not crawl over to us and instead focus on Laura. Out of sight, out of mind. It worked like a charm β brilliant! These kinds of tricks of the trade only come from years of professional photography experience and Iβm sure a lot of trial and error. It was clear to me that she had a keen eye for capturing the best poses and angles of my little baby.Β

Sneak Peek, Gallery Reveal & Artwork
Laura sent us our sneak peek photos within a day of our photoshoot! The way she used the light and beautiful setting truly amazed me. Some of my favorite pictures were of Luke when she made his ocean blue eyes pop! I loved that our digital gallery included pictures in both black and white and color to give me options for prints. Along with our digital gallery, Laura also offer gorgeous, print products of the highest quality. I couldnβt be happier with Lauraβs work and how she truly brought out the fun-loving personality of my baby in her photos!
