Heirloom Portrait FAQ

What are heirloom portraits?

Heirloom portraits are classic, fine-art, vignetted children’s portraits designed to stand the test of time.

With a simple white backdrop, thoughtful posing, and hand-editing, they are more than a photo.

They are pieces of art meant to be displayed and passed down through generations.

What ages are best for heirloom sessions?

Heirloom portraits are ideal for children 9 months through 6 years old.

This age range allows for sweet expressions, early personality, and beautiful simplicity.

How long does a session last?

Sessions are intentionally short, typically 15–20 minutes.

This keeps little ones happy and allows us to capture authentic expressions without overwhelming or exhausting them.

What should my child wear?

After booking, you’ll receive a curated style guide with specific outfit recommendations to ensure

your portraits feel timeless and cohesive.

Do you provide outfits or props?

Heirloom sessions focus on the child rather than props. While outfits are not provided,

I do provide extensive guidance in selecting clothing that photographs beautifully and fits the heirloom aesthetic.

Can siblings be photographed together?

I do not photograph siblings together; however, you may reserve a single session for all of your children.

Each child will be photographed individually in the same classic style, and I encourage coordinating their outfits

so the portraits can be beautifully displayed together.

Where do sessions take place?

Heirloom portrait sessions take place in my Northern Virginia studio, designed specifically for

classic portraiture with natural lighting and a clean white backdrop

How much do heirloom sessions cost?

Heirloom portrait sessions begin with a sitting fee, with artwork and digital collections purchased separately.

Families invest in fine art prints and framed pieces designed to be enjoyed for generations.

Full pricing details are shared upon inquiry.

When should I book my heirloom session?

Heirloom sessions are offered on weekdays throughout the year.

I recommend reaching out 4–6 weeks in advance to secure your preferred date.

How do I book?

To begin, simply click “get in touch” and complete the inquiry form.

I will be in touch to walk you through the process and help plan your session.

Are heirloom portraits a good gift?

Yes! Heirloom portrait sessions and custom artwork make incredibly meaningful gifts for parents and grandparents.

Gift certificates are available upon request.
