Newborn sessions have my heart, my entire business centers around them, they are the big event! Maternity and milestone sessions are almost always booked together with a newborn session. As your DC newborn photographer my newborn sessions are all about the connection between you and your baby. My sessions are baby-led with gentle posing, which leads to photos with beautiful, natural connection. I also capture timeless, natural newborn portraits as well as your baby's tiny details.
Newborn sessions are 2 hours in length and ideally take place between 8-14 days old. The session can be done in-home or in-studio. You will have access to my client closet and a list of preferred hair and makeup artists for a full-service, luxury experience.
Following our session together, we will meet again virtually for your gallery reveal ordering appointment. My job is not complete until you have something to show for your experience. Whether you choose a custom gallery wall to enjoy everyday or a heirloom album to pass down to your kids, I am here to help you preserve your family's memories!

EXPERIENCE
HOW IT WORKS
As your DC Newborn Photographer my careful attention to detail from booking to the delivery of your gallery makes your portrait session a relaxed, enjoyable experience. As a mom to a new baby, you have enough to worry about. My goal is to make sure that all of your questions are answered and all of the details are ironed out well before your baby arrives, so you can look forward to your session with excited anticipation.
Once you book your session, we will schedule your virtual planning call. We will hop on zoom to discuss
your vision for your session. We will decide things like when and where the session will take place and address any questions or concerns you may have. Then comes the fun part... we will style your session using my studio wardrobe for mom and baby and a style board for the rest of your family. All the work is done for you, you will have the session of your dreams and all that's left for you to do is get glammed up and enjoy the session with your new baby!
During your session I will use a series of gentle guided poses and relaxed direction. This will allow
for natural connection and interaction. We follow your baby's lead and make sure all of their needs
are met and they are kept happy throughout the session. All immediate family members are encouraged to participate in the session to capture your family's memories!
Sessions are reserved with a $395 non-refundable creative fee. The creative fee covers the session time, the virtual planning appointment and access to my studio wardrobe. Digital files and artwork are sold separately at your gallery reveal ordering appointment!
I also offer a Bump-to-Baby Package and a Baby's First Year Membership.

DC Newborn Photographer FAQs
When should I book my DC Newborn photographer?
It's best to book your newborn photographer at the beginning of the second trimester. This allows time for you to find the photographer you love and to get your baby's due date on their calendar.
I can't decide if i should have my session in-home or in-studio...
If you are considering an in-home session, during our virtual planning call I will have you show me the spaces you would want to use for the session. I’m looking for uncluttered space that has good access to natural light, as well as light colored walls. If your home is dark or doesn’t have good access to natural light the studio is a perfect alternative.
How old should my baby be for their newborn session?
The sweet spot for newborn sessions is 8-14 days old. However, there is no bad time to capture memories with your new baby! If you missed the newborn window look into booking a milestone session.
When is the best time for a newborn session?
Ideally newborn sessions take place between 8-14 days old. Newborns tend to still be very sleepy during this time frame which is ideal for my style of photography.

Happy New Year ✨ Welcoming 2026 and celebrating one month with our sweet Hayes 🤍
Personally 2025 was a crazy year for our family. It simultaneously held loss, change and great joy. We had to say goodbye to my mother-in-law and our family dog 💔 We also moved into our forever home, and ended the year welcoming the most special gift, our third baby 🥰
Hoping 2026 is quieter on the home front because we’re laying the foundation for something BIG coming to PLS Photography! Stay tuned 👀
